To anyone who can help,
I have a current issue with a drawing originally created in Microstation by Bently. The drawing is in DXF format. When I attempt to open this in autocad 2004 or R14 the drawing does not open and I receive errors from autocad. Below are some of the error messages.
From Autocad 2004
Error in LTYPE Table
Linetype name with vertical bar is not marked dependent on line 1514.
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.
From R14
Unknown value 'AC1015' encountered in drawing version.
Error 4 in drawing header on line 8.
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded
I think this may be some type of blanket issue that results from how the dxf is created in Microstation. My problem is that my microstation knowledge is Novice, if that! I do have access to the microstation application V8, and have tried to fumble around. Some of the things I have already tried include Select All-->Ungroup -->unlock.
Also the reason I need to edit the dxf in autocad is so that the dxf file can be imported into a proprietary application that uses dxf files. In autocad I need to Explode blocks, regions, and a few other objects. Then I scale the drawing down and set the units and limits in Autocad 2004. This results in a clean enough file to be imported into this proprietary application. If I were to just take the dxf file as is and import it into this application text is not scaled to the drawing at all, and lines which compose furniture in the dxf is missing. Hence the need to explode regions and blocks in Autocad 2004. The explode usually solves the problem. So that is just some background info on the issue. I ultimately need to be able to open this file in Autocad 2004. Any help is appreciated. I am giving this a 500 point difficulty because there is a time factor that is important.
Respectfully Yours,
Keith

When I try to open the DXF file from a 2D section export I get the following error message in AutoCAD LT 2012. Premature end of object. Invalid or incomplete DXF input - drawing discarded. EDrawings 2017 opens the files.

AutoCad :: Invalid Or Incomplete DXF Input Error Message
Jun 11, 2013'Unknown value 'AC1027' encountered in drawing version.Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded. Press Enter to continue.' (then the file disappears)
MY workflow:I am opening up DXF files created by me with RASPLOT 2.5 and RASPLOT 3.0 (an Army Corp of Engineers Hyrdraulic model extraction program) I bring the DXFs into AutoCAD for better cleanup of the 2D graph it creates of flood profiles.
OBSERVATIONS:Others in my office have opened the same engineering models in RASPLOT and been able to bring DXFs into AutoCAD 2011/2012 in with no problem. It had worked for me in the past, but I can't recall what happened to all of a sudden make it not work, EVER. My co-workers can work with the RASPLOT DXFs in Windows XP and Windows 7.
ATTEMPTED SOLUTIONS:-I upgraded my RASPLOT version first from 2.5 to 3.0, then upgraded my AutoCAD2011 to 2012. No change.
-If I create the DXF on my computer, then open it remotely from another computer's AutoCAD, I still get the same error message. (My only solution has been to create my DXF by remotely logging into another computer with RASPLOT then it will open in my computer's AutoCAD.)
- I tried changing the .dxf file path to .dwg but that doesn't work.

AutoCad :: Error When Saving As DXF - Drawing Discarded
Apr 29, 2012A colleague of mine made the stupid mistake of using an unauthorized personal computer to save a work file, but she used an educational-licensed AutoCAD.
We do use legally purchsed and registered ACAD 2012 in the office. However, as expected, the file has been marked as being made by an educational version of ACAD and, therefore, cannot be sent back to our client.
A superficial search shows the solution as saving to dxf and back to dwg.
However -and herein lies my problem- when I save as dxf, the following error occurs:
'Error in LTYPE Table
Linetype name with vertical bar is not marked dependent on line 9540.
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.
Press ENTER to continue:'
And then nothing happens. I used both the 'save as' features, as well as the 'dxf out/in' and, since both seem to be the same, neither worked.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Using Expression Gives Invalid Input?
Jan 15, 2013I'm trying to use an expression for text height and everytime I enter the name of the expression I get 'Invalid Input'. Is there a trick to doing this?
I even changed a style that 'HAD' allowed me to use an expression, to a number then tried to reenter the same expression name that was there and get 'Invalid Input'.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Drawing Lines Lag With Dynamic Input Turned On?
May 10, 2011We recently switched to 64-bit ACAD on dell M6500 laptops. I used to use dynamic input all the time, but after the switch I noticed when using Dynamic input turned on, when you go to draw a LINE, after you pick the first point, the mouse 'lags' and becomes 'glitchy'. I had the problem 'fixed' once by our IT guy, he updated the driver or something and everything was fine.
But now it is doing it again.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Invalid Input Message Trying To Create Curve Between Two Lines
Aug 20, 2013I am receiving an invalid input message when trying to create a curve between two lines. My drawing units are set to architectural. The problem is summarized as follows:
1- In Lines/Curves menu, select curve between two lines.
2-Select first tangent
3- Select second tangent
4-Select radius option
5- Enter 8'6'
6- After entering the radius I receive an invalid input message.
7- But if I enter the radius as 102 (102 inches) the curve is created without any problem.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Invalid Block Name On Insert
Oct 11, 2012I have a small LiSP routine I wrote about 14 years ago that no longer works. It is supposed to update a logo on a title block using the -insert command with a redefine option and a cancel
(command '-insert' 'K:FORMATSLAYOUTSGSILOGO.dwg' 'y' ^c)
When I run the routine I get an error message 'Invalide block name' and it cancels the command without updating.
Yet, if I insert the same block through the insert dialog box it allows the file to be inserted.

AutoCAD 2010 :: LT Crashes When Keyboard Input

AutoCAD 2010 :: Dynamic Input Angles
![2012 2012](https://www.saf.co.il/sal/frm/msg_000_1326573527.jpg)
When I create a line using dynamic input, I key in the length, TAB, and the angle. Is there a toggle setting somewhere that will allow me to enter angles greater than 180°? Drawing Units are set to Base angle north (270°) angles in D-M-S measured clockwise, yet dynamic input angles are measured from east (0°) both clockwise and counterclockwise. I.E. an input of 90° gives me either north or south, depending on where the cursor is located.
Ideally, I would like to be able to enter either 225° or -135° and have the line head off to the southwest. So far, I'm stymied and have to resort to command line entry. How to make dynamic input do what I want it to?

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Automated Drawing Using Input Data?
Jul 4, 2013I would like to automate drawing process for certain data. Using some LISP codes User will be asked to provide some data and using that data an automatic drawing needed to be developed at Drawing editor of AutoCAD. For example;
Enter the width of Sheet: 50 mm
enter the length of Sheet: 200 mm
Enter the sheet thickness: 5mm
Enter type of feed: Automatic
Are there holes in Strip: Yes/No
Specify nu of holes: 5
Position of holes Centre: 5,5
Distance between the holes: At an interval of 20mm each
I just need a LISP code for such program.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Input 3D Cartesian Coordinates / Batch Input (x / Y / Z)
Feb 4, 2013My need is to create up to 50 points from the same origin in a three dimensional Cartesian coordinate system but I’d also like to have a labels for each point that show up in the feature tree.
Are there Inventor 2013 plugin (i.e., add-on, 3rd party, AP) to convert a list 3D Cartesian coordinate system locations (i.e., points) to Inventor to work points(x, y, z)?
I found that I cannot create 3D points in the assembly. Is this correct? I did find that an Inventor part may be used to create a 3D sketch that creates points in 3D space. In the past few days, I found two ways to create 3D points within a iPRT; the batch way uses an Excel file but it then does not allow me to name the points in the feature tree. The second way is to create them one at a time but that take way too much time.
